My Barrett-Jackson rant

I have been having a hard time maintaining interest in the auction reports in Hemmings, let alone watching the TV version. I do really want to see some of the cars, maybe in person would be worthwhile.

Sitting at a table eating a burger & this group comes over to the table next to me. 4 or 5 of them. 3 men 2 women. They started talking about the cars. 2 of the men had travel bags with them. They all had writing pads & had written notes about some of the cars. Lot # etc. They where from Flordia & apparently travel the auction circuit. One of them mentioned a car he bid on that didn't sell. I guess he was all in. Another guy offered to lend him $21 thousand cash right then. Was almost encouraging him to take the cash & go make a deal on the car. I guess they had cash in those travel bags they where carrying. I was trying not to be nosey but I couldn't help it. The guy was considering it. Then they started talking about a car they had seen in Flordia at a auction & talking about the guy who bought it there. Complaining that he brought it to Greensboro just to flip & make a quick buck.

I once happened upon Eva Longoria in her finest lace while channel surfing. It made me stop right there and I kept the show on . I had no idea I was watching Desperate Housewives . From that point forward I watched every episode , I couldn't help myself .

Can I say that personally these seasonal auctions and concourse events are delaying me getting a 235"+ long Imperial Lebaron home to Minnesota. I have one transport company p*ssed off at me for inquiring with another because they can't find a driver to fit my big baby in their trailers. More $$$ with shorter Vettes, etc...with the shows going on and the East Coast weather. 1-6 week delay with no guarantee...just 24 hour notice of delivery time. There...I'm being selfish...But, I'm paying what they are asking to get her 1000 miles home.:mad:

Some of it can be the weather. I had a real big problem many years ago shipping a car out of Washington State. And sometimes it is just the logistics. It took several months!!! to ship one out of rural Westly Ca without the weather problems. Both small cars in comparison.

The transport company I used for Big Red last year forced me to go open trailer because of length and size...never again...especially this time of year...guess size does matter.:lol:

Lord yes. The NASCAR stuff they have. NASCAR VIP's . The B-J commutators seem to know or have very little interest of knowledge in hi end imports. Where as Mecum I don't think those guys never went to a NASCAR race untill the last 10-15 years. And they seem to be much more versed on the Jags & Mercedses
