My vacation to South Dakota brought me here. Thought I'd post a few highlights.

The General Lee is the original. It was only used for still shots and such. They had practically every make of AMC. Most were packed in so tight that it was pointless to try and get a decent pic. I'm not really a fan of snowmobiles and tractors but I did find it neat to see that Harley, Lamborghini and Porsche made them. Also saw Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse. Drove Needles HWY. Feeding the prairie dogs might have been my favorite though!

Great pics, thanks!
I wish they'd put the headlights down on the bird.

Knew it waz there and wanted to stop and see and wondered? Alwayz chasin' the sun in both direction on I-90 thru' those Bad Landz tho'. There'z ah B-52 Base up in that area too with ah north south runway that you swear one ah them Big Birdz will blow you off the Hi-Way if your timing iz wrong. Makez your earz vibrate too, lol

I was stationed at Ellsworth back in the early 80's, drove by that place a few times but never went in. I'm planning on changing that sometimes here in the near future. It used to be a B-52 base, now it's a B-1 base. I loved that area of So Dak.

That is a really cool museum - very folksy and out of the beaten path it seems. Nice stuff too. Makes me wonder about its history and how it came to be in South Dakota no less!

They have a full time mechanic that keeps the cars running. 85% are in running condition. Apparently everything is for sale minus the General Lee and a few other things. They really need more room though. I saw a Javelin and a Marlin that I would have loved to gotten closer to. The out buildings are packed. American Pickers van is there too, parked by the front door, which I assume is to get people to think that Frank is actually there right now, lol.

When I was stationed at Barksdale we would send B-52's there, I never got on flying status so I never went.

My family stopped there in the summer of 1973 when I was almost 5. Don't remember much, but cool to see that it is still in business.
