As many of you know, I've been cleaning up my '68 Fury III fast top for a couple months now after almost 20 years in a barn. I thought I had cleared out the mouse crap and nest material and it was looking pretty nice, but the interior still smelled like the end of the world. Well, I found some tips on FBBO about popping out Mopar back seats (kneel on it, shove down and back at the same time) and holy ****, look what I found...

Note the mummified/skeletal guy who fell out on the carpet.

So I did my best to quickly clean it up with a shop vac and some nice-smelling soap and then drive it around without the seat to make sure it was dry...

(Note: the tape is to keep the seat belt straps up and out of the way as I pop the seat back in; it's very weak tape that didn't leave a mark on the vinyl.)

Back in business and finally smelling just rubber and oil and gas and upholstery and old plastic!

Cold start below... Commando1, aren't you a fan of the ol' glasspacks? These are true vintage ones... :)

One cool thing I forgot to mention... found the original rear seat belts wrapped in plastic from the factory, so pulled 'em out and now the kids are riding with me!

That's great! Did I miss the thread about how you cleaned up the headliner?

Here's a tip: while you got your rear seat out,go to the store and pick up some cheap air fresheners and tape them to the underside of the seat.It will help kill the odor and they can easily be removed after a short period of time.Believe it or not they work very well. After about a month, when they dry out just lift up the seat part way and throw it out.I've also used scented carpet powder too,and just vacuumed the carpet after a day.air freshener.JPG

Just carefully wiped it with water and Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap. It's a mild soap, figured there wasn't much chance of it discoloring the fabric. Seemed to work ok.

Those pipes are Beethoven to the ears. Sweet. What brand are the paks?

Hard to say... one has been on there for about 30 years, the other 22 years (I bought it then with one big quiet stock muffler and one glasspack !?!). Whatever was cheap and readily available in the Dakotas in the 80s and 90s.

One is orangish and one is bluish. One's a little bigger than the other. Reminds me of a testicle joke someone told me once...

Thats a great looking Fury alright.
If you had gone a little further and removed the rear seat back rest you may have found the broadcast sheet tucked in the springs.........

IMO, there isn't anything that can compare to the "original glasspacks". Nothing. Anywhere. Ever. Especially when strategically placed
