Radar Detectors

  • Bob, I find the combination of my Valentine and the WAZE app seems to work well. You MUST have other traffic on the road to make either work especially with the instant-on feature of most radar / laser units. The self deputised or oblivious who ride the entitlement lane are just as dangerous as the 10 or 15 over speeder. I agree that a new car that is more highly powered does take constant attention. When my wife, who never speeds, purchased her SRT Challenger she was surprised a few times by her speed because it came so effortlessly. BTW be aware that states like VA who ban radar detectors have equipment that can and does tell them if you have a unit operating in your vehicle. As to speeding being dangerous I believe that the road quality and road conditions are the primary indicator of what the speed limit should be. In my state we have interstates with speed limits of up to 80 mph and state hwy's up to 85 mph so far with no increase in accident rates.

I just got home from work .... ALIVE. My top speed was 103. The people doing 90 moved out of my way as it should be. Most then moved in behind a let me set the pace.
I've found the biggest problem is the middle lane guy. He's not keeping right.

I did get the Escort 360C and Blendmount's and Mirror Tap's for both the Ram and the Scat Pack.

I'm looking in to getting the Escort Laser Shifters too.

I did too.... but they did. Only in Indiana do they do that
Never drove there... weird. I'm wrapping up a weekend in Pittsburgh right now, I'm amazed by the number of 55mph roads still around here.

Shameful, nothing should be that slow.
To bring back the manual shift discussion, I enjoyed my driving around a bunch... hills, improperly banked curves, deer carcasses... all things I don't get to enjoy much in FL. Having a nicely geared 4-5-6 speed would have made it so much more fun for the weekend.

Instead I have a rental KIA Sorrento, and I absolutely hate this POS. Hands down the least responsive accelerator I've ever driven and transmission that has an uncanny ability for always being in the wrong gear. Shame is, it has plenty of power for a rental and the hills... I seriously considered overriding the shifting, but decided that would just piss me off more... make me feel like those idiot movie stars constantly working the shifter on an automatic :realcrazy:.
