Im looking at a new Big Horn 1500 4x4 quad cab 6'bed with the basic V6....The engine is a concern.
I am hesitant about the V6. I dont have immediate plans to tow anything but I may be looking to tow a 16' boat with outboard. Thats not a definite but id rather be prepared
Im seeing one listed for 40 grand out the door, granted it doesnt have a lot of options but it has what I need
I also was looking at the same truck in the Tradesman model....I dont need or want a plush fancier truck.
Does anyone have any experience with these trucks
    thanks

I suggest a private message to Graham Warner ska @Dobalovr. Graham is a mopar dealer in Calgary and will be able to advise you how to proceed.

In the end he'll see you get into just the truck for you. Best wishes with your new RAM whatever it will be.

Thr Pentastar V6 is a good motor. A bit taxed in a big truck but with the 8 speed auto it will get up and go and have decent mileage.

But the Hemi with MDS and 8 speed is better.

I would shop around because you can get a Ram Classic with 17 inch tires and a Hemi with 8 speed trans same price give or take s few bux.

    Thanks John!

I just recently demo’d a V6 new body crewcab 4x4 Tradesmen for a month and I admit I was impressed with the power it had with the 8 speed to back it up but if you are looking to save fuel the hemi gets similar mileage on the highway. In town the Pentastar was better but lacked the jump of the hemi. As Leaburn mentioned the Old body hemi truck is a great value right now and I would look closely at it.

I would go with the Hemi. Those trucks are pretty good sized, especially pulling a 4wd, and if you pull a 16' boat eventually. Too much stuff going on for a v6 in my book.

Make sure to get an extended warranty, read it carefully and take the truck in for req'd inspections.

    I’m going with V8
My Tacoma has the V6 as does my Camry
My new car has the 4 cyl with turbo
I’ve gotten use to the more HP engines
Besides if I bought anything but a Chrysler products vehicle I’d get banned from all the forums for sure:lol:
