So I bought this one today.

What a beauty! Looks awesome, Matt!

But this Battery is huge :O Even bigger than my battery tray. Is the '67 tray that much bigger?

Thank you for the kind words! This battery is bigger than my battery tray too, Ken generously included it in the parts car end it still has life in it so let’s call it a shop battery.:)

One needs that for sure!
To say it in the words of the 60s automotive ads. It needs a real man to handle this battery! :D

I guess I hadn’t really inspected the steering linkages until I spent some time on my back hooking things up and dealing with an oil leak issue:BangHead: but I’m glad I noticed that the idler arm was totally shot and the original rom this car wasn’t any better so I ordered a rebuild.

More excited than I should be to just receive this oem style NORS muffler.

Getting close to firing it up so I needed to turn it around which means it needed to go outside which also means it needed its first bath in years aside from the power wash while it was still on the trailer when I bought it. It was good to scrub the rest of the compost off of it from its time outside.

Couldn’t get around what’s left of the convertible parts car so I drove under it.

Since this car is solid in between the frame rails all the way back I figured it’s time to put the new gas tank in. I knew this was going to be a dirty job!
Here’s how it started.

Pulled the bumper, brackets & taillights as they will be replaced with nicer parts and found one of the tank strap mounts was too rusty.

Then I put a wire wheel on a grinder and went to town knocking all the loose stuff off before hitting the whole area with a rust reformer.

And even managed to hang the tank before calling it a day. Still have to tighten it up but it’s in place.

I was at @detmatt shop last week.
The Director Imp is impressive.
It was cool to get to play with the rare seats and table option.
No doubt the shop is full!
It was an honor and pleasure to meet him in person after all these years talking online.
Here he is with his stash!

Gas tank is all in and hooked up, I even put 5 gallons in it.
While I’m back here I figure it makes sense to take care of as much rust as I can. I have all the rust free replacement metal for the passenger side.
