Hi guys,

I'm looking for an inexpensive solution to monitor RPM while adjusting my carburetor. I'm not looking to install a permanent tachometer in the dash.

There's a bunch of inexpensive tach/hour meters that are wired to a spark plug on Amazon. The biggest complaints I see in the reviews for these products is that they aren't waterproof as advertised (which I don't care about because I'll be using in the garage) and the instructions tend to be poor or non-existent. The latter concerns me because my understanding is that you have to set them up for the engine type.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Are you running a points-style ignition? Why not just pick up dwell / tach meter. You would need one anyway.
