So Id to ask my fellow Imperial people for some knowledge. I picked up this Fully loaded 69 LeBaron 2door last spring. It was ordered as a Chrysler Lease vehicle code ‪#‎Y17‬ . Its literally has every option available, rear shoulder belts, rear heat, passenger side mirror, electronic ignition, etc etc but There is one on the build sheet Id like to find out more about. It says it has code ‪#‎V6W‬ which looks to be "full length side stripes" or "accent stripes" Now I have seen factory pin stripes on 68 and older and 70 and newer but never on a 69. Unfortunately it has had a paint job over the years so as of right now I cant see any signs of stripes. Has anyone here seen factory pinstripes on a 69 Imperial before? I realize its long from needing replacements, but it peaked my interest when I was looking over the build sheet. 20140222_115326-2.jpg20130506_202036.jpg20140222_154300.jpg20140222_115422.jpg20140222_115518.jpg

Welcome to FCBO .. nice car. Please head over to the welcome wagon and meet the fellas

Cool car.

Does your body side molding have a white accent/insert or is the trim around the rear window have a white accent?

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Nice car, love it!!
how about this one Julian???

Hey Cbodies love the car you need to post more pics of her for us to drool over. Regarding the options on your car, could you take a picture of the fendertags and post them? Sometimes where the code option is on the tag affects what it relates to. Once we see it properly we can get back to you with the interpretation on stripes.

Welcome aboard. Nice ride. Cant help you with your question but I learned something new that Imperials had electronic ignition in 69...

20140222_115311.jpgHello everyone, Thank you for the replies! Here is a picture of the fender tag. I need to scan the build sheet for a better image result. At the moment I do not know if the insert in the body side moulding is black or white. The trim around the back glass is vinyl top color and grained to match. As for the Electronic Ignition , everyone I have asked claims 69 was the first year of optional electronic ignition, Over the years Ive heard 69, 71, 75 etc etc. I was all over the wiring and it doesnt have the faintest look of being screwed around with, the loom is factory etc. I really need to purchase some of those Galen Govier books so I can get more info from the build sheet.

Welcome to the site! Nice car you have there! I saw it a couple times on the Imperial Facobook page.

I can't see a passenger side mirror and/or a hole for it on your pictures?! Did you removed it?

No. It has the holes but the man who owned it started to part it out, He sold the right hand mirror and the glove box trunk release set up. Why someone would do this? I have no idea. Thats why the door panel is loose on the passenger side door. 20140222_115518.jpg

What a shame, indeed! That means, you saved it just in time! Great to see another one saved! You have some nice options in your car, that I wish my coupe have, like the rear shoulder belts or the rear heat!
Do you have the "Twilight Sentinel"?

What do you have planned to do with it?

Well , Id like to get it on the road again and go from there. Ive been after a 69 2 Door for years and always ended up missing it from a demo man or hounding people with nice ones to sell and not having any luck. Then I happen to find a 69 Crown Coupe on CL and bought it from Colorado. Then about a month after I bought the Crown , the guy with this gold one called and said OK, Ill sell it now, so I bought both.

For 35 years I have been under the impression that 1972 was the first year for "optional" electronic ignition, 1973 was standard.......

The code V6W is for a white longitudinal stripe, as you indicated, but I have never seen a paint stripe on a 69 Imperial either. Besides electronic ignition, the 69 Imperials also had the first part throttle kickdown standard in the torqueflite (generally available in 1971 and later models otherwise) as well as sequential rear turn signal lights. For 1970 some bean counter must have axed a lot of this stuff, including the unique cornering lights (the 1970 cornering lights were more mundane and used on other Chrysler models). They were on the right path with pioneering some nice stuff on their top of the line car, but someone screwed it up after the 1969 models.

Let me get that straight please, in 1969 the Imperial offered the electronic ignition as an option and on other lines it became an option in 72 but standard across the board in 1973?

the V6W is a tape stripe not a painted stripe. If so it would be a V7_ (W in this case)
