Wollfen's 1971 Sport Fury GT !

I'm just going to toss this out there because I've seen similar issues.

When you put the torque convertor in, did it "seat" down in the pump? The convertor will still bolt up, but not drive the pump.
I have done quite a few before, having to wiggle the thing while spinning it, once it does go in it slides to the rear of the bellhousing with a clunk, then when you fit it to the car you actually have to pull the torque converter forward again to mate up with the flex plate so I know I got that right.

Yea, I figured that you've probably done this before... But you never know....

When I posted the issue I thought maybe my brain is fading and someone will come up with something simple that I forgot. I know I have forgotten stuff I have learned over the years.

I put a engine and trans in a car once and when I went under the car to button it up, I saw the convertor sitting on the floor...

Is the pump an easy swap once the tranny is out? I have two TFs sitting around and haven't the first clue how to check them before putting one in the vert.

The big nine inch round cast iron piece inside the bellhousing has to be unbolted and then removed, the oil pump is inside that, it's almost like a planetary gear itself.

Lol, I have done similar, while rebuilding a trans i forgot to put in the band piston and buttoned it all up, then saw it on the bench, pulled it all down again then buttoned it all up once more only to see i left out the spring this time. In the end I took it back down three times, I was not a happy chappy.

Left the thrust washer between the input and output shaft once myself. Saw it on the bench when I was done... at least it wasn't in the car.

Couldn't figure out why my engine wouldn't start.
Then saw my starter sitting on the bench.

Happens to everyone...

I never was one to force something that shouldn't be forced... as a result I once seated a converter wonderfully and fully installed the transmission leaving the converter bolts for last. That is when I realized that particular transmission had indexing dowels on the flywheel and I had missed them completely. This on a customer's car, so my nice paying job became a poor paying job, the trans had to back up around 2" for me to line it all up... linkage, lines, harnesses you name it, it had to do everything but come back to the floor.

Those sort of mistakes are how we learn to double check ourselves more often... If you haven't made them, you aren't working enough.

Man what a hot humid humid day, I didnt do much at all to be honest. I'm sweating in the air-conditioning. I did manage to finish the back window install and trim install though. I decided to walk away from the trans for a day to give myself some time to think. Progress is still being made though. Man that car is dirty.

Rear seat, door panels, rear parcel tray and rear window trim all put back in. Finally done in that part.

After I finished with the interior today I decided it was time to start work on the transmission, I decided before I pulled it to check the oil pump I would check the valve body. So after draining the fluid I dropped the pan and voila! There it is, I wont say straight away whats wrong, I want to see if anyone can pick it. And no it has nothing to do with the filter, that was me working towards removing it when I spotted the problem.

Ah the manual lever needs to be in the slot in the manual valve. I think it would work better that way.
