Anyone ever put a ls lsx in a c body

Ok, I didn't want to sound as much of a **** as I did so I apologize. Lemme clarify my position:

I take issue with transplants that may require radical structural modifications... This would fall into that category from its inception due to mounting issues. That said, I've seen Mopar to Mopar mods that without structural fortification, would twist a c body into a pretzel and I feel dead set against that as well.

My Monaco was a brutally solid car when I bought it. A Canadian 318 car with 25,000 miles on the ticker, not a scratch or a spot of rust. ... Garaged its entire life. I built a 440/727/sure grip combo that was enough, but not too much. In the end, caused more problems than one should get from a car with that many miles on it... But everything was reversible, anyway.

Further, as a born and raised Chevy guy who only got into mopar in his 20's, there's nothing that presses in my heart more than:
A.) a neglected c body
B.) a solid 2 door 68-72 nova either gutted and stuffed with a supercharged LS or worse, made into a 'tribute' car. This specific range of Nova is very dear to my heart in any configuration (I grew up in two, an ss 350 and a six banger) and to have one hacked to be something it was not just irks me.

So, thing is, I don't hate on anyone for doing what they want... I just have a weak stomach for the ole snip snip, hack hack. Just me tho.

Sorry for being a poop.

OK, I looked at his past 5 posts just out of curiosity. He's building "what the world needs now" (and it ain't love, sweet love). It's another bluesmobile clone.

:woohoo:

Put a stick of dynamite under the hood and enjoy.

Ahhhh. Ok.. a "clone". My previous statement stands. It'll be a cold day in hell when I build a clone.. General Lee or Yenko.

Jus me.

If you are going to turbo it or heavily modify the LS and keep it fuel injected I would say go for it all the coding has been cracked and rewritten over and over for GM. If keeping near stock or normally aspirated i would put a gen iii Hemi I know it is more difficult and expensive but that's the way it has always been for Mopars, one of the attractions I suppose.

This thread has gone the way I thought it would....

IMHO, in this case, anything with the C body is just about if there is room for the Chevy engine and are there good places to weld the new mounts to. All the rest... like the electronics etc. aren't going to be answered here. There's no real knowledge base on this forum for your turbo conversion or any other mods to the Chevy.But... not to insult anybody, and maybe I'm reading this wrong, it just seems to me that if you can figure out how to turbocharge the engine, any questions you would ask here you probably should have already figured out. In other words, if you have to ask, this swap is already beyond you.

At the risk of joining the "Mopar only" crowd, I really would love to see a late model Hemi conversion from start to finish. I know it's been done, but I haven't seen a good "shade tree" project documented. Given the C bodies that have had their engines stolen for other projects and are available for a song. It seems to me that doing a proper conversion could be a real winner.

This would be an interesting conversion, even with the Chevy engine and if you follow through, it does need to be documented and I would follow it with interest.

I have a 66 Buick Skylark and I did a build thread on a Buick forum. When I posted that I was putting an LS in it, the purists squealed like a stuck pig. When I put an LS in my 64 Pontiac Lemans, the purists squealed yet again. Both groups were just as vociferous as a few posters in this thread, in spite of the fact that late model Pontiacs (GTO and G8) were delivered with LS engines.

There are definite advantages I'm finding for LS's over Gen III hemi's - even for basic conversions, such as a wide assortment of oilpans (factory, even), accessory drives, intakes, ECU's, harnesses, headers - you name it.

Having said all that, even an LS bigot such as myself couldn't see much point in LS'ing a MOPAR. Even though an LS would be easy to do, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It does warm the cockles of my heart to see all kinds of Chevy motors in Fords, but I wouldn't do it. There's just something about the Big 3 that has a line I won't cross.

Could we see some more pics or better yet, links to the threads? I'd love to see more!

I agree with this idea, but I also think it would be neat to see a C-Body re-engined with a 426 Street Hemi, instead of an LS motor. Maybe a '66 300 with custom-made 300-M badges on the trunk lid, etc. . . Sorta like it was rumored that Chrysler considered doing after the '65 300-L.

The 1966 300x concept was quite attractive... Front end kind of actually ended up being the 68 300, which is my ultimate. I could do with a custom built 300x with, well, any mopar big block... But now we're talking crazy talk.

Wasn't there a post a few months ago for CL ad with a formal for sale some one put an SBC in?

The middle part of your post is basically my thought... if you're asking the Internet how to do it, you're already out of your league.

Anybody here ever do a heart transplant? I'm sure there is a Youtube video...

Ive built many cars turbo and nitrous.

Asking if anyone has done a swap in a cbody and if so what hurdles I might not have thought of so i can decide which way to go is actually a smart way to do it.

I think its really funny that the biggest bashers on this board what to talk about lack of knowledge and above someones head but yet they cant answer the questions.

I think if you are going to insult then maybe you should know more about the issue then the person you are insulting.

In fact carmine probibly couldnt tune a fuel injected car if his life depending upon it but yet he's the biggest basher.

I would still appriciate the input from forum members who have some knowledge but the neandrathals that have nothing to add you are just beathing someone elses air they could use.
