IMO...
This would be a fun, but not very useful vehicle for me... Not great for towing, not great for hauling... but a sweet convertible.
I'm with Will, priced right... this would be just about perfect to tow/haul with... with A/C and seats that still have foam in them... a nice enough cruiser as well.
This would be almost as good... but my inner cheap bastard would never be able to reconcile having to buy 2 extra tires I never felt the need for.
If any of those was to become my next dream truck, I would like a LA engine too... I believe it would be slightly more practical and if I was to drive her on big highway trips it wouldn't be too hard to give her an overdrive auto. A 4 speed wouldn't hurt my feelings either.
Of course I'm not shopping for myself, and the old bowtie beater in the driveway handles my P/U needs guilt free... even if I decide to drop a tree on it or something. The DD Burb lost A/C this week. so I might spend a minute or two looking into why the P/U doesn't work... been a couple years of not being concerned with it, and still not interested in spending much to repair it. Work is paying for me to do a junkyard run on Monday... may as well make a shopping list.
I hope Will doesn't mind me keeping this thread off track a little longer, but I see the practical aspect of a subaru or volvo as a DD if you fear that 1 inch of snow. Both have good enough reputations... But would be a dull axe IMO. I haven't worked on either brand often enough or recently enough to form my own opinions about them. Other than IDK if I would like the parts bills at maintenance/repair time.
Most newer P/Us are a complete waste in my mind, but I can't spend that kind of cash on a vehicle and still get to own old stuff. Every payment would cause a bleeding ulcer or brain hemorrhage for me... I know I'm not the typical consumer though. I will scratch/dent/crush a bed/cab/bumper so I'm out when it comes to a really nice truck.
