NASCAR attendance

I remembet how big a deal it was when the Daytona 500 was shown live on ABC's Wide World of Sports!! That was the only race shown all year. I think that made NASCAR special and we always looked forward to it. Now with 24 hr coverage, it had diluted the sport. Watching Petty, Allison, Pierson, Yarborough et all slug it out was pretty amazing.....

One word solution for the current racing situation. Vintage Racing !!!!

I've gone forever and I know it's mostly pantomime but it's crazy cool to see 50's 60's 70's even 80's & 90's NASCARs duking it out. I once saw 9 bill Elliot thunderbirds racing each other. It was hilarious. If you guys ever get the chance go check it out.

I haven't watched a race in the last couple of years... I can only speak to my reasons. I watched for the wrecks and the saves, NASCAR was the only racing that allowed cars to touch. The guys who could do well in those races had more than skill, they had nerve. The COT was the beginning of the end IMO.

Too watered down, too many weird rules to try to make it better to watch on TV. They wanted to make the sport something softer for the sensitive folks and forgot about their fans. Then there is the greed factor. I never entirely forgave them for screwing with my seats at Daytona... I'm not boycotting, but I don't find myself getting very enthusiastic about them these days.

I think the NFL sucks more now too... since they got softer... but I AM boycotting them.

Ahhh, the Golden Years of Nascar...
