New Member, 1967 Imperial

Arrrgh! The listing was out of date. They no longer have the part.

At least I know more about how they are packaged.

Matt, do you think you could reasonably reuse the inner part with a new outer lens, or is it something that would need to be bonded from the start?
Yes but I can’t imagine that the outer will be easy to find either.

So I actually bought this one several years ago and I don’t remember it being that cheap.

So I just came on the site to say I think I found a used one, and I saw this thread:

For Sale - Parking lens

I thought, "when it rains, it pours!" but then saw it's for a '65 Chrysler, not a '67 Imperial. So it's still just drizzling.

And I'm not getting my hopes up too much, as the last time I did, it turned out the part wasn't still there. I should know this afternoon. Fingers crossed!

(And Matt, this means no more PMs sent to you begging to sell your spares..... for now!)

That’s good because I’m not selling!

Ok I'll shoot for $15.

This is what we are dealing with. Crispy but not rusty.

Check it out typical condition.

I'm going to pluck these for $20 with jingle balls included. I don't need the lenses but my harness has a bad socket so might as well take all of it.

PS anybody need 69- 70 cowl metal this thing is straight rust free and probably cheep. Jose will torch it off.

Imperials were never imported to Mexico, so they don’t really have them down there. Also, the price of scrap steel got high enough a while back that a lot of the old yards got chewed up and sent to mills to be recycled. There was a time you would drive down Mex 1 and every trip had a new yonke (junk yard) with the car chewer at it.

I must have paid $200 for the one above 5+ years ago and I had to buy a driver’s side a couple of months ago(long story) and it was $335.

Holy smoke. Mr matt I'm not saying they aren't valuable I'm saying in places like Victorville trona ridgecrest etc it's left for dead & no cash value. It's for sale cheep or like my 1970 AMX power blister hood it's never for sale , the old guy dies on a Friday and by the time you're making your rounds on Wed his house is looted ( door removed ) and the cars are scrapped by the county. Never to be seen again.

I think exposure would not be good for these particular lenses.

Baja,

Well my 94 GT conv got "imported" in 07 much to my dismay. So you never know... LOL

I know there were tons of old car yards on the way to San Carlos we had a condo down there. They'd go to the beach and I'd disappear. I haven't been down there in 15 - 20 years so that's sure bad news.

Same thing happen in Az. In the 90's Mark B must've shredded 10,000 + 40's -70's cars when he sold all American. His yard dwarfed hidden valley. I ran with his stepson and he said take whatever you want boys... as long as it's not made of metal. I musta pull a thousand sets of cuda side markers off old wrecked furys. And every Fury through the 90's was a drivetrain donor. I loved em but nobody cared.

Anyways I'll look & see what I can find. Hopefully nice shape but if I can find a good driver I'll grab BOTH sides.

Heard back from the guy with good used spares. Unfortunately, he only has a driver's side.

Can the Eagle be carefully pulled out and replaced with my good right side eagle?

Yes I think so. In the bottom right of the bottom picture is 1 of 2 spots at the top and bottom of the lens that look to be bonded and you can see the 2 tabs that hold it in place at the front inside of the lens.
