So it is not a factory 4 speed car,but no shame in that if it was done properly.

For the record,the 4 speed was available in C's with 383HP/440HP --but they simply did not advertised it.
In some brochures it ws not even mentioned.
If you wanted it you had to special order it.
It was quietly dropped for good in 1969.
 
Looks nice, but somehow I knew it would be a bench seat car.
68 300 came standard with bucket seats and buddy seat/arm rest.
Bench seat was a no cost option.
It was common for some people to want the bench. Not rare but nowadays it is odd.
Seat pattern is from base Newport model.
 
I was going to say a 4spd & bench seat is a easy path to cop a cheap feel with the girlfriend but I won't.

Getting "me too'd" with a shifter ball was probably a lot more common back in the 60s, and most likely welcomed.... in today's times though it might result in 4-speeds being outlawed.

I can already envision the headline on CNN: "Woman Blames Carmaker for "Misogynist" Transmission after "Assault" During Shift to 4th Gear"
