Hello all, Ive been a lurker here for a little while. I have been watching the C Bodies for sale ads all over the place = looking for a nice 68 300 convertible to buy. I had a near hit on a nice car in New York, but eventually it didn't pan out for me. I came across a low mile 68 out of the Ft Wayne Indiana craigslist, and started the dialog with the seller. I asked if he felt the car was roadworthy enough to drive it from Indiana to my home in Maine...He said the longest trip he had ever been in the car was when he bought it in Ohio, and drove it 3hrs back to his home. but he believed that I should have no problem driving the car the 1000 miles to Maine. I took a chance and gathered up my money - booked a one way flight (quite the journey itself, as I arrived 13 hours later than scheduled) and ended up with "Stan" meeting me at the airport and taking me to his home to have a look at the car. It was everything he said it was = super super solid , fantastic original condition, and the motor sounded, and ran smooth as silk. So at approximately 1:30 AM on Friday morning I pointed the beautiful beast east and cruised home to Maine!!! I arrived home @ 11:00PM Friday night!!! It performed in all aspects FLAWLESSLY !!!!. It is an absolute pleasure = this is the ultimate road car!! Saturday morning I swapped out the 14 inch wheels for new 15" magnum 500s that I had already to go for the Chrysler. I gave it a well deserved bath, dropped the top and took the Mrs. and our daughter out for lunch, and a cruise of the local popular beach. People really get a kick out of this car = we had a great afternoon!! I took some pics of the journey = I will attempt to post them here! :sSig_greetingsthor: ............ :welcome:

Great story and a beautiful car. I recently flew to Conn, (from Bama), and drove my 69 Fury Custom Suburban back home, including a side trip to NC. About 1300 miles. It's the best way to get familiar with the vehicle and a heck of an adventure.
I quit doing the grueling non stop trips long ago though. These days I drive only in daylight and try to stick to the secondary roads, US and state highways where I can. It's about the journey, not the destination.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Beautiful car, well done!

Congratulations!

Awesome you found what you wanted and a great road trip to start the relationship.

It says a LOT about C bodies and their owners that you got along so well.

Thanks for all the kind words and warm welcomes!!! I will get some interior, and other pics soon!! She is a very low option car, in fact the only options on it as far as I can see is the bucket seats with buddy, and cornering lights. so no A/C ...I have been practically living in the garage, the past few nights - Tonight I replaced the rear bumper with a NOS bumper that I scored a few weeks ago - yep - I started to accumulate parts for a car I didn't even own yet !! This Chrysler doesn't need a lot, but I just love doing little detail items, Hell, the Mrs has even joined me the past two nights to help out!! = and she has never been interested in that kind a thing before!! I guess she really likes this one !! again thanks for the welcome - you all seem like a bunch of fun car guys!!! Oh, and Rwc - I live @ 20 mins west of Portland!!

When the Mis gets interested, the sky is the limit. Ellie, My lady, gives me more encouragement then is probably good for me. I mention "road trip" in the convertible and she starts packing.
Your a lucky guy.
