Check the stampings. The color is wrong.
All 383's are turquoise except 69-71 HP's.

The valve covers look like 69-71.... and thats an electronic distributor....

My guess is it was repainted years ago with the Mopar Hemi orange DC was selling back then (maybe still). It was race hemi or max wedge orange not the orange used on street engines and was lighter in color. Valve covers appear to be original paint street hemi orange from 69-71 vintage though.

As already stated that's a hell of a deal. Any number of parts on that thing are worth the $50 bucks and more. If the engine is absolute crap, what does an engine bring for scrap these days? More than $50 yes or no?
