Bought a 440 for my newyorker block is stamped 9/20/74 how can i find out what it came out of helppppppp

You can't!
And it doesn't make any difference.
I can assure you the owner of a non matching 1974 Mopar is not looking for it.

It may have a vin stamped on it and that may or may not be a complete, if it is that'll tell you exactly what it came out of. Also have a look at the machined pad up by the distributer for some more info and report back with your findings. In '74 I think they were all cast crank units but I could be mistaken.

The parts book show both a forged and cast crank for '74.
People will SWEAR they had a '74 with a forged crank but nobody has yet shown proof of one. Ever.
As far as I am concerned, if it was a '74 block, it was a cast crank.

I agree Stan, from a manufacturing standpoint they didn't set out to have 2 cranks available on purpose, if they had some leftovers maybe some early build cars had them. That is if they used forged in '73. Again, I could be wrong...

Anyone know what color the block should b im goin to get the motor rebuilt

Turquoise.

Should have a letter E after 440 on pad and a thick vibration dampener, but I agree 74 is a cast crank unless it was in front of a manual trans. 74 intake is a good piece just block EGR and make sure to use external balance t.c. or flexplate
