Such a nice thread, that I have to post my 67 Fury, just got it on the road
Sweet, same as mine except color and wheels, close to driving mine for the first time. needs a lot of work still but i just want to take it for a cruise!

hi Windsor 56 this is mark or polo62 I have a car just like yours by the way yours is beautiful is it original mine is same color except the interior is white with black dash and column and it has the 383hp 4-speed with a/c no power steering no power brakes but it needs restored wish I knew how to put pictures up I,d send some is yours a 383 or 440 was wondering did you have to do a lot of body work or not some guy said mine would need 10000 dollars worth of work to look good as yours because it leaked water around the back glass and rusted the trunk out and alittle on drivers side quarter right above the wheel and it has small dings and small dents on it do you think its worth fixing I also have a 70 dodge charger didn't know which one to put the money in but the fury is arunning car and the charger is all apart but a 383 car also with automatic thanks for listening would love to see your car in person have a good 4th of july sincerely mark

My friend is currently trying to sort out a few issues on his 68 Fury III convertible in time to put it in the car corral at Carlisle next week. The car is a very nice older restoration that has won trophies at Carlisle in the past. Its a 383 Automatic. Its a factory air car, but the ac is not working. The issues he hopes to solve before Carlisle are drilling out a broken exhaust manifold stud, replacing a leaking cylinder for the convertible top, and fixing the latch on the passenger side door which for some reason isn't latching correctly. If he doesn't finish in time, the car will stay home and he'll ride up with me to Carlisle.
And yes, its an original red with red interior car.

Here are a few more pictures of my friend, Bob's, 68 383 Fury. He says it won't make it to the Car Corral at Carlisle next week. He still has the exhaust manifold off the car and hasn't drilled out the broken exhaust manifold stud yet. He still plans to sell it.

There's somewhat of a connection between the red 68 Fury convertible above, the red 68 Sport Suburban above and this blue 68 VIP.
So I met my friend, Bob, back in about 1997, he was driving the red 68 convertible. I didn't know till later, that Bob was my friend, Ed's, next door neighbor. Ed was/is a Mopar guy who liked 68 Furys and he had told me about moving into a new house with a next door neighbor who happened to have a 68 Fury convertible. Ed's brother, Tom, also a Mopar buddy bought that red 68 Fury Sport Suburban several years later, but sold it a few years after that, to someone in Pennsylvania after he replaced the motor. Meanwhile Ed, had always wanted a 68 VIP 4 door hardtop. I went with Ed when he bought this blue with white painted roof 68 VIP from the original owner. Ed kept the VIP for a few years, then sold it on E-bay, to someone in New England, to buy a 58 Fury project car (Ed's dream car).
I took two of these photos on the day Ed bought the car. In the last photo, there is Ed, negotiating the price with the original owner's wife, Stella. Stella was more stubborn than Ed on the price, so Ed really didn't like Stella. That's actually too bad, because the car itself gained the nick name of, "Stella" for that very reason. Ed added the optional turbine style wheel covers after he bought the car and they do look good on the blue VIP. The pictures were taken several years ago. Ed's son,who is also in the last picture, now is a Marine, and is much taller than his dad.
In the photo with the turbine style wheel covers, the VIP is parked next to Bob's 71 340 Duster, the car that shares it's two car garage with the red Fury convertible.
On a side note (just because I remembered this as I was typing). Ed always had a Fury of some kind, but never wanted a dog. His kids always wanted a dog. I remember getting his kids to go up to him and ask, " Dad, if we get a dog, can we name him Fury?" They adopted a stray dog that started hanging around shortly after that, but the dog didn't stick around. Ed no longer has any other Furys either.

Seems I never took an interior or engine photo of my friend, Bob's, 68 Fury convertible. I'll do that next time I see it. The interior and engine bay are very nice and correct and clean looking.
