So being the nerd that I am, when I found a picture of a fender tag on a car I would buy IF I had any money, I had to try and decode it. So after a couple hours of searching through listings of all the codes, I had it figured out (I think). Then I find a decoder here http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=87
Would have saved me a couple hours, but it didn't tell me the paint or interior color. Those I found on my own. But I figured I'd post my work so you guys could check it for errors 'cause I'm a Newb
The fender tag read:
R31
B41 G11 V5x P45
V1t H51 R13 L31
FL6 L3L2 BL1 511 200617
E61 D32 CL43 L1C 244290
STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM LINE
E61=383 2 barrel
D32=HD 727 Torqueflite
C=C Body
L=low economy (Newport)
43=4 door hardtop
L=383-2
1=1971
C=Jefferson, MI (plant)
NEXT LINE UP
FL6=aztec gold metallic
L3L2=Cloth and vinyl Split Back Bench in Beige
BL1=Sandalwood (interior door frames)
511=May 11th
THE NEXT
V1T=Tan Vinyl Top
H51=Single A/C
R13=AM Radio
L31=Fender mounted turn signal
AND SO ON
B41=Front discs
G11=Tinted Glass
V5X=Body side stripes, Black
P45=Power trunk release
FINALLY

This will most likely lead me to build my "Holy Grail" Fender tag... such a nerd...
