Another orphan found our driveway...

Don't forget that tranny is going to also need a little breathing room, too.

Oh yea. She’s got plenty of room all around, except for the one spot. It’s a leg in the casting of the trans. Hopefully the hammer, and prybar will take care of it. Those pics are with the cab down on the frame, not lifted up.

Engine, and trans are finally bolted in! No cherry picker, or jacks supporting anything. Woo! Cab is bolted back down, and trans has some clearance.

I started modifying the core support to accept the cummins radiator. Really just trimmed the old radiator brackets, and acc. Supports off. Still need to delete the middle valence support for the intercooler.

I was a little nervous. There’s only 3.5” between the core support, and fan. Only had the old radiator at the shop, and it measured 3.25”. Woof... just measured the new radiator going in, and thank god it’s only 2”! Big relief.

Idk if there will be room for a trans cooler up there. Might have to run one with a fan under the bed.

Zac, you are a machine... I'm exhausted just thinking about all you've done these last few days.

It has to feel good having her back together that far.

I think to maintain your relations with your neighbours, you should do the rest of the conversion in your driveway :p:p

I’m about up for that, and it may happen. Thinking once I get the clip back on, might get it towed home to finish all the little things. Hate having to be all the way at work to work on it, vs having the comforts at home.

Just didn’t have the room for it, when it’s all apart. Plus having the big welders at work for the “heavy” welding is nice. Should be over the big welding once the radiator is in.

Thanks Jeff! Believe me, I’m feeling it. My legs, and feet aren’t too happy with me lately.

Zac the machine, I like that, we should buy him a sticker for his truck. :D

I like it! Could go on the tailgate, or rear window next to the big C that’s going on lol

Finished cutting, and welding the core support. Finally have it installed, along with some new bushings for it. Old ones were trash! Luckily we had some “close enough” at the shop.

Welded up some bottom mounting brackets for the intercooler, and got em welded in. Used all thread with nuts for the top mounts. This way I can space it off the core support, so it’s not rubbing. Had to trim some of the bumper brackets up for clearence.

Also have the bottom mounts done for the radiator. Need to modify the top mounts still. Damn thing is sitting high! Fingers crossed we don’t run into problems with the hood. The hood latch cable is too short to run it’s notmal corse now. Gotta drape it over the radiator when all’s said and done.

I cut allot off of the core support. I almost felt bad, but it’s crusty enough to not have much guilt. Plus it needed to be done.

Unless there is bracing that will hit the radiator, it looks like it will clear. I am judging by the height of the hood bumpers.

Modifying the bracing a bit if necessary shouldn*t be too hard after all that's been done already.

Some big hurdles out of the way today, that has really lifted me spirits. Finally feel like something’s accomplished.

First got the hood back on, and it latches shut, with no problems! Still needs a little tweaking, but am so glad it shuts.

Secondly, the top of the fan shroud fits perfectly. Not bad for eyeballing it! There’s barely a little more then a 16th gap all the way around. It’s right back where it was from the factory. Also got the top radiator mounts made up. I’ve lost one of the bushings, and need to find it. But no problems other then that.

Inner fenders, and battery tray are back in as well. No problems around the turbo either.

Lastly, to make everyone happy ( here, and the neighborhood) the beast is back home! LOL. Took forever loading her up on the trailer. The outer rear wheels were hanging off the trailer, but she made it just fine. This is a huge burden off my chest. The last 2 months of straight 12 hour days at the shop have been enough for me.

Can work on it at my own pace, leisure, and comfort of home.

Last big stressful thing left is the front valance. Need to trim some of the back lip off to clear the intercooler. Hoping to not mess the paint up too bad.... only reason the front end isn’t back together.

With all this cutting and welding I think you forgot a important step. Cut that muffler off, no diesel should have to breath through one of those.

You're wearing me out. Jeezes, Zac, where are you getting your amphetamines from...

Really want to get this one done. Been wanting to do this since she got the truck. Plus hated having it at work! Staying after hours was not fun.

If I were you. Zzzzzzzz.....zzzzz....zzzzz.....zzzz!

Oh I did!

That old exhaust system is long gone. Truck looks %100 better! Hated those side pipes.

Planning on a straight pipe system, with an axle dump under the bed.

I think Zaoh is ignoring our suggestions.

Not ignoring at all! Passed out last night, and slept most of today away. Got some much needed sleep! Spent the rest of the day with Sabrina. No truck work today.

I did get the hot side of the intercooler hooked up, as well as the radiator hoses Friday afternoon. Back at it tomorrow!
