Ok guys, bringing this thread back, I’m going through headlight door issues now. At first the motor didn't budge. Disassembled, cleaned the commutator, brushes and contacts, bench tested forward and reverse and they both worked strong. I tested the relay and ground and got power to the wires as it should, high and low beams work. Installed the motor but the doors only moved open about an inch, and then closed when I switched the lights off. If I left the switch on, the relay would start clicking and buzzing. I tried another relay from the parts car that I know works, same result. Could this be that I have the wrong cam in the motor? See pics below. I know this motor is out of a later model New Yorker or Imperial, I want to say ‘78 I think. The red cam came with the motor, the yellow one is from a motor of the same vintage that I got with the car. Note as well that the grease I applied on the gear shaft only spread about half way on the gear showing limited travel. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I found this set online, but it looks like the one I already have, thoughts?
