Once I learn how to operate my phone with the wrong hand. Speaking of that I have to do everything that way for awhile and that will be a challenge.Good luck with the surgery!! Prayers for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted!!!
Mine is due to arthritis and it’s completely worn out.

Thanks for the words of encouragement and I might just take you up on the offer. I used to be one of those people who believed you could work through the pain and had to. At this time I can now tell you that isn’t the case. For me I have tried to keep my range of motion knowing this will help in the future but I now realize it’s not easy. Last week I had to stop taking my arthritis pills and I can honestly say they work. This change literally took me down several notches and it’s been tough. Going to be glad when it’s over. That was exactly my situation (osteoarthritis due to injury and weightlifting, etc), and three years after total replacement, that shoulder is strong and flexible, great range of motion and pain free. PAIN FREE!
I planed ahead for using only one arm during the months of recovery. Small towel to dry off after a shower instead of that big old heavy fluffy thing, practiced brushing teeth and shaving with my left hand, cooking with left arm and so on. The idea is to NOT hurt the other shoulder in the meantime due to overuse or stupidity.
My PT was 6 months, and I worked and worked and worked at it. If you don't have tears in your eyes, you're not working on your range-of-motion exercises enough. Doctor's orders, doctor's orders, doctor's orders! Pretend each PT session is like D-Day.
Wear that sling for at least two months when you're outside your house. I wore that hated thing for three months to be on the safe side. You'd be amazed at the number of people who will jostle your or want to shake your hand or grab your shoulder and say hello. [Maybe not so much in the covid world]
The worst thing for me was that good Cabernet tasted like a vinegar and gasoline mix for two months. Food was fine, booze was fine, quality wine was disgusting.
Feel free to PM me after your surgery. We can exchange phone numbers and I can be your shoulder coach!
Good luck!
Glad that the surgery went well. Sempre Adelante! Thanks for the words of encouragement and support to all. That’s part of the reason the forum is so great. I am very fortunate that the clinic I am going to is a world class organization recently winning 3 major awards at a worldwide event. From the get go they were extremely knowledgeable and wanted to fix the problem. It’s set up as day surgery and I will be out this afternoon which is my preference. To go to the hospital for this adds at least 3 months waiting time.
Congratulations on a successful surgery! Recover wisely!Just thought it was time to give everyone an update. My surgery went extremely well and I am well on my way to recovery. Staples will be removed next week but need to stay in a sling for three more weeks. Went in at 7:30am and they booted me out at 1:30pm. I haven’t had a bit of pain from the surgery since day 1 and have even quit taking the damn pills. Even my PT doesn’t hurt however I am sure it will once they go full bore. Amazingly I didn’t even bruise as I was waiting for that. My biggest problem is being uncomfortable and glued to the sling with regular treatments from the ice machine. To say I am pleasantly surprised would be a huge understatement.
Thanks again to everyone for their support.
Now it’s time to be nice to my wife for all the wonderful support she has provided me. talk to everyone soon.
