This is my personal battle that I wanted to share with my friends on FCBO...

If you didn't know, I served most of my adult life (20 years) in the U.S. Army. I served in Armored Calvary and Self Propelled Heavy Artillery Regiments almost the whole time I was in. I served 15.5 years out of 20 overseas including Germany, Thailand, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and a few other places. I worked for AAP for ten years after the Army and again worked for the Army as a military contractor at the Army Test Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground testing everything imaginable for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to include Frag Doors for HMMWV's, MRAP Vehicles, IED defense and mitigation, body armor, robots, drones, numerous ballistics testing and SEAL Team 6 Support to take out OBL.

My personal battle is the with the recent Military Pension cuts to me and my fellow Warfighters that are retired. This is what I sent to my my representatives. I would appreciate if you would express your opinion to your elected representatives. Again, this is my personal battle.

I still have to work...my military pension isn't a Golden Parachute (no pun intended). I have to pay for health care too because I elected to have a medical plan better than being treated at the VA. Annual premium, dental annual premium, co-pays for doctor/dental visits and prescriptions, out of pocket for other medical things. It just makes me mad as hell that our government gives away billions of dollars overseas and to illegal invaders here on the backs of Military Retired Combat Veterans. Thanks for listening to my rant.....

[h=3]The following information was sent to Legislator(s):[/h]I am a Retired Army Combat Veteran with 20 years of faithful and dangerous service to our great country. I totally disagree with the recent Retired Military Pension cuts. No one told me almost 40 years ago when I enlisted that promises would be broken and my Retired pay would be stolen from me by future law makers and legislators. What is really irritating is that billions of our tax dollars are sent overseas or given to illegal invaders on the backs of Retired Military Combat Veterans. This is the straw that is going to break my back. If my Retired Pension pay isn't 100 percent restored I'm going to be permanently leaving your political party at every level including local officials. I will promise you that I will never vote for you ever again and of course you know that if I took the time to write this to you that I'll do everything I possibly can to help you NOT get re-elected with the huge network of veterans, friends, and family that I have. I don't want to hear that you voted against the Retired Military Pension Cuts. I want action to reverse this wrong and won't except anything other than 100 percent reversing the pension cuts. I expect a written response from every one of you since you are my (for now) elected official representing me.

Our government is causing our great country to be circling the drain on almost every level and our elected members can't even get together and do anything about it or see it clearly.

I'm in the lower ranks of the state/community payroll and we're always first when it comes to cutdowns, there's no collective bargaining, the rise in income or cuts are done by state legislation and there's about nothing you can do.

Coming from a military family, I can wholeheartedly say that I feel for you. In four generations, I've
had 2 great grandfathers, a grandfather, a great uncle, 3 uncles, 4 cousins, a brother and 2 very close friends. Some were/are currently "lifers". Some served only 1 term, others more. All from various branches.
I know you said it's your personal battle. One thing to remember is that your not alone. You aren't the only one who will have to make drastic changes in your life to accommodate this, in my opinion, act of treason. This isn't a personal battle. It's a battle that hundreds of thousands will be fighting until someone with the gumption stands up to the blind selfishness of our great country's leaders. Our govt has written their own death sentence. Worst part about it is that they have included all of America with them. This is not a personal battle

Our once great country is rapidly flowing down into a third world cesspool. All thanks to our "ELECTED" & Re-ELECTED" self centered, self serving politicians.

The pension cu tis the loss of COLA for retirees until age 62. For the average retiree, it amouts to a loss of over $70K. I'm pissed, too, as this applies to me, as well. Yet, does CONgress or the POTUS take it on the chin and do the same for THEIR bennies? Of course not!

Bob, first and foremost, thank you for your service. There is a great historical work written in the 1800's, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. It basically starts with the reduction and then removal of the perk that every Roman soldier is promised: if they survive to retirement then they receive a parcel of land and a sum of money to live out the rest of their days in peace. This lead to the reduction of Roman born fighters, apathy and then Commanders hiring foreign mercenaries from captured territories to bolster the fighting forces, "Barbarians" if you will. The rest is history. Another tidbit, no government in the history of the world lasted longer than 250 years. Even the Roman super-power's reign was split at the midway mark by the change from the Republic to the Empire. Just one more quote for today's history lesson: "Those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it." How many of our elected officials are historians?

James

I am behind you 100%, those that have served or are serving, are our countries most skilled and treasured assets.

Funny that there has never been a reduction here!!!!!

As a Canadian I'm not sure if I'm entitled to an opinion. The American military is a big part of the reason German isn't an official language in Canada. I just wish you all the best in your just quest.

Our comrades north of the border are entitled to an opinion too!

They fought shoulder to shoulder with us all over the world!

Fella's, thanks for support!

I retired from the Army 17 years ago and I'm still working..... I'll be fine.

I'm very concerned about my Wounded Warrior's that depend solely on their pension and can't work to supplement their incomes just to survive.

That goes back to an old saying.....

If you are reading this......thank a teacher.

If you are reading this in English.......thank a Soldier!

I saw an article today that said there has been so much backlash that they will review the changes. Not right now, but they will look at it.

[FONT=Verdana,Sans-serif] WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon's top civilian says it's time to tame burgeoning military personnel costs, but he's facing a test of wills with the nation's powerful veterans groups, which want no cut in their benefits.
Veterans groups are fighting curbs in annual pension increases for military retirees under age 62 that are part of the new budget deal passed by Congress last week and awaiting President Barack Obama's signature. After a barrage of protests from the military community, lawmakers said they'll review the cut next year and possibly reverse it. But Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Thursday that reform of military compensation can't be avoided.
