Here is the old one coming out of my Challenger I will close it up and keep the matching numbers safe.

Here is the 400 I saved by hours from the shredder, wearing a set of 516 heads that were redone with bronze guides and a opened exhaust valve,1.74 vs 1.60, that I picked up at a swap meet for $20. With new valves, springs, locks and retainers, here they are on the Smogger 400.IMG_20150905_120017_399.jpgIMG_20150905_120041_378.jpg

I pushed the porting further than I felt comfortable with because I only had $20 invested at that time. IMG_20150905_120217_895.jpg

For reference here is a stock head.

Here is the valley pan going on with nice gasket match also done to the intake for a smooth transition from intake to head.IMG_20150905_143530_595.jpg

Nice Dave, looks great! Trans doesn't need anything?

Awesome Dave just Awesome, i will half to visit your garage sometime as it looks like a mopar safe haven.

What are your intentions with this engine dave? I thought 516 heads were just boat anchors.

Racing at Norwalk next weekend. I used them because I have them and I needed closed chambers to vet any compression at all on smogger short block where pistons are down .120 in the hole with the measured 73cc chamber I'm still only 8.43:1 so I can run it on cheaper gas and still have some fun. We will see if they are boat anchors or if my handy work brought them up a notch.

You sumna... Looks like fun is waiting to be had! Have fun at the track. Stock cam or did you bump it up a little?

Great recipe for a driver...you'll definitely have fun...without the detonation!

I have a Set of 3:91s, Sure grip if those tickled your fancy Dave.

Its a Mopar performance 284/484 cam I bought at the Mopar nats a couple of years ago.

That's what I have in my low comp 440. Woke it up nicely and yes, friendly on the street.

A little gear would be nice 3.55

I also have that gear and they seem to work well together. I do wonder what 3.73's would be like, but wouldn't like the top speed I'd be limited to.
