See pic....does that middle flange come off first before tires can come off

Nuts not coming off ....I think studs are just spinning

might have to sacrifice that flange to get the tire off

Comments??

There's no picture in your post, but I can guess the problem you are having.

If your car is 1970 or older, it has left hand threaded lug nuts on the left side.

If so [depending on the year of your car] the drivers side wheels are Lefty Tighty and Righty Loosey.

Worst case scenario . . . get a die grinder and split the lug nuts. Must be one powerful air ratchet!

I'm so glad I got to see this, Jeff. I probably would have struggled for hours trying to get the wheels off of my '68. It's been so long since I had to deal with left hand threads that I'd about forgotten they existed. Many thanks :D

The few times I have taken my ‘68 to the shop for any work on, or behind, the wheels I put post it notes on the driver side hubcaps that say “Left handed lug nuts”. The last time I did it the shop manager thanked me because his crew is relatively young so it gave them a good coaching moment.
