Can anyone else just reach in their 69 flip SL switch on at the panel with no key, car off and have SL come on provided the floor dimmer is on low beam and headlight switch still in off position?
I dont know how the 69's are wired, but for the 70's the super light should only be able to come on with the headlight switch turned on, superlite switch on and the dimmer switch in the "high beam" position. Can anyone else just reach in their 69 flip SL switch on at the panel with no key, car off and have SL come on provided the floor dimmer is on low beam and headlight switch still in off position?

So I was finally able to finish up the lighting upgrade on the polara. It involved getting a custom headlight harness made by Rob Yule that included a third relay to run the superlite directly off of the alternator. I used headlights spec'd out by @slantsixdan at Daniel Stern Lighting. I also followed his tech tip on how to aim headlights here, and used this article on how to aim the superlite:

It worked out really well!! I have done some night driving and the light is pretty useful. I have not done much highway stuff with it but will in the next couple weeks. here are some pictures with the superlite on and off at the end of my street:

again this is with the bulb that @slantsixdan had made. I provided a link in post 84. But if that link gets broken I believe you just take a good H3 bulb, remove it from its base and place into the superlite bulb's base. you move that bulb further out and in the base to get the proper focal length. For future reference if anyone actually tries this the beam should be able 8 inches high when the car is 25 ft from a wall.

"a specific grille insert" is misleading language in the article. For 1970 the plastic left grill piece comes molded with a hole for the light assembly with its own part #. Also not specifically mentioned in the article is that the mounting hardware for 69 and 70 does not interchange.I don't think I have seen this 2012 article on the superlite. Note the (Michigan-based T-code, if it is the car that I think it is) EB7 1970 Polara 'vert in the photo:

I can not tell you the differences between 69 & 70 wiring. The car I added the complete circuit to is a 70 so the references should compare equally to yours. Thanks for answer.
Yes if the superlite is ON, the hi beam are not ON they switch to OFF.
I have a manual and read it but it is a bit obscure right now. I do not understant why my superlite wire goes to the anmeter..
I discovered this thread and the first diagram seems fine but are 69 and 70 wiring the same ?
I will post pictures to advance search tomorrow.

There are a couple Of guys here that have them on a shelf. Glad it worked out for you.Hi, it was quite easy and it is working ( virtualy ).
Thanks polara71 for the pictures that helped me to locate the relays. I remember : never trust the repair manual ( not because it is poorly done, but it is sometimes very unclear and yolo on certain details ) but it helps it is true.
I want to thank alan ( mrmoparchp ) on this thread
Super-lite Electrical Broken Down
he helped A LOT to understand the principe a save time to read the manual.
I noticed some difference on my car :
- wires on my SL swith are violet - red and dark blue with tracer. And that matches my repair manual.
SO as polara71 said, it is a circuit that only fees the SL so you can test it easily. In fact you can test it with only 1 move, but first car must have :
- functionnal headlights
- functionnal hi beam.
If it is ok, all above is working, and SL circuit will by fed buy the SL switch ( DBL* for my car ).
The hardest is to remove the relays... pffffff. Why on hell you screw relays at that place ?!?!?.

relay is on the left.
- open the relay ( you can see the coil ), ->headlights on -> hi beam on -> SL switch on -> hi beam shut off ( because they are fed buy SL switch ) -> just press on the coil and et voilà ! SL is working.

you can test the wires before with a continuity test to identify and test.
Conclusion : my relay is dead. The coil does not have continuity.
I will try to replace it with a modern one, but if someone have an original for sale i am interrested.

"If you want to replace with a modern relay, on the previous page of this thread I outlined what type of relay you need and which wires each pin needs to connect too
It is late here ( 11 pm ), i replaced the old relay with a modern relay, 5 minutes job that took me 2 hours..
I choose not to replace the hi beam relay because it works fine. I replaced it at its original place and.. no hi beam. It was a bad ground as usual. I sanded the location of the relay on the parking brake but there was some grease or something that killed the ground. Brake cleaner was the solution.
I put the relay directly on the original wiring with extra wires.
And it works. It does absolutely nothing but it works. It is an h1 lamp, the lamp is on , but it does nothing, no diffrence between headlight and superlite. I thibk it is just a bulb issue. It is not a big deal.
