Tailgate window motor rebuild

My rear window motor works but as it gets to within say 5" from completely closing it gets real slow and needs a "hand to get it up".
Would rebuilding the motor make things better?
I haven't opened up the tailgate to look inside yet

I'm gonna have to try this on my '74 T&C. Its window moves more or less OK within the top few inches of travel but I don't dare try to open it all the way. The motor seems strong.

I stumbled across this post while browsing FCBO looking for something else. Like going to The Home Depot for one item and ending up spending an hour or two there.
