1972 Polara 4 door sedan

FedEx stopped by while I was cleaning up the floorboards... I’m not having any of this overheating mess like the previous owner had! Plus some Dakota headers for performance! The headers were $80 and came with gaskets and bolts. Pretty thick flanges and they appear to dump in approximately the same location as stock. I couldn’t resist!

While taking the front seat out I noticed this car had no undercoating.
It would appear that it had pickled itself in its own juices from leaking oil and what not.
It always amazes me how some cars rust and some don’t despite their circumstances.
But it would figure that a lowly, no frills, green, undesirable, small block like this survived where more highly sought after examples have turned to dust.

Here’s what it looks like, I think I’m going to give it a few coats of rustoleum gloss black after some fresh seam sealer. These floors sure sound funny when you peck on them with no undercoating. I bet this thing had plenty of road noise in the cabin.

I’m not a detective but I would venture to say someone locked themselves out of this thing at some time. Looks like they tried to pull the lock up with a chain saw!
Look at the rubber on the door and the paint mangled on the post!

WD 40 soaked glamour shots to make me feel better about spending money on this clunker. Please heap on the praise to keep me going!

You've got a really solid example of a simple yet sturdy C body! Once you get that drivetrain back in it should provide lots of years of service

I'm interested in how those headers fit for you...might have to look into getting a set if they fit properly.

I like the 72 front ends more but the 73 is a hardtop and has rimblow steering wheel and looks very cool. The 72 is awesome too. I love the green color actually. That color is unique now and i would keep it

Keep the color it will be easier to restore and more original when done. Dont trash the nice 73. Thats all
The more I think about how hard it is to change the color of one, the more th green grows on me. So, it’ll be green for a while. The 73 has frame rust up front and hardly anything under the hood is original. I drove it for a few years and then retired it.
It’s been used for mostly drunken doughnuts on the farm and other such hijinks since then.

Down in the cowl area. It was full of leaves and who knows what. Wish I had took a pic of it before I vacuumed it out and wiped it off. How does that crap get down in there, anyway?
Somehow it survived without major rust damage. I’ll sand it and spray it with rust neutralizer.
I believe this car wasn’t driven in inclement weather and the original few owners did the best they could to take care of it. I guess this cheap, low level car was all they could afford so they might have been proud of it and tried to make it last.
