Another project

Boy am I glad my neighbors are cool with me teaing down, and building up cars out in front of the garage. Having all three rental properties empty doesn't hurt matters any.

Zac, he's a diesel maniac! Spit shine it and call it good, you know you got it for the drivetrain, not to win an beauty contests. Lucky guy, it's barely broke in!

Hey Zac. Box off ah 20X24 back corner of the new play pen, stuff ah 4X4 fan in the out side wall and hone your painting skillz. Stick with me young man and I'll help keep you broke. You do know all the good auto paints today are runnin' 'tween $300- $400 ah quart last time I bought rite? PPG, DuPont, Spies Hecker, lol
Farm and Implement Rustoleum is $40 a gallon at Tractor Supply. Thin it with mineral spirits and spray it with a Harbor Fright gun. Bullet proof, high solids paint that will look good from 10 feet. Perfect for a truck.

International Harvester Implement Red also works. Does not look half bad if you clear coat it.

I really wished that dodge offered a Crew cab version of the second gen rams.... I would love one of these trucks but i do need a space car seat....

Just breaking in the new neighbors....

But Ofcoarse! lol actually, we only have 2 nieghbors currently. The other houses are vacant. They are either for sale/or about to be for sale...

Being a little older neighborhood, it seems either the owners are going into old folks homes, or the moms and dads are moving to a smaller place as the kids are all grown up, and out on their own. Quite a few for sale signs going up lately.

You would love what my buddy has in his back yard (junk yard lol)

This is in part of the front yard (background). Can imagine what he has out back...

Anywho, he has an old derelict crew cab 2nd gen out back. Basically a cab, and frame. It was done by a conversion company back in the 90s. There seems to be a few of these running around.

Its a sad sight. It is too far gone to save. The rockers are completely gone, and the doors turn into gullwing doors when you try to open them.. still cool as hell to see. I’ll have to try and get a pic of it, next time I’m over there.

Let some of the beast out of the cage this weekend, with some help from a friend.

Swapped out the head bolts, for some stud bolts, and squeezed the head on a little tighter. Did all the free pump upgrades as well as some 5k governor springs. Also advanced the timing.

She is a tire eater now! Need to find a quiet road, where I can lock it in 4 wheel, to get a little traction lol

Gave her a trans service, as well as made some adjusments to the trans. She’s shifting pretty good. While there installed a fun switch, a convertor lock up switch.

Been fighting a charging system problem this last week. She quit charging a few days ago, with the Gen light on. Took the alternator out, and ran it up to O’Reillys. It tested good, so back home it came. Cleaned up all the connections, and she was charging fine for a couple days, then she quit again. After testing the pcm, figure it has to be the alternator.. so new one installed. She’s charging now. Hopefully it stays that way.

Have some goodies coming for it from the postman, as well as a cab with a decent dash for it coming from a friend here soon. She will be a decent rig again here soon hopefully.

Todays project.. What a difference! Feel like im sitting 5’ higher lol.

The new cover did not have the flap to hide the tracks like the factory one, but Ill take it for the better seat! I need to hunt down a new power seat track, or parts. One motor is toast, and the outside track doesnt want to operate. I’ll paint em all up, and get em looking good the next go around. Luckily the seat is in a good position at the moment for my big ***!

I did get the passenger side free’d up, lubed up, and working much better as well.

Unfortunately the truck is currently grounded at home. Like any other typical dodge truck, it needs a front end. The driver side hub has like an inch, and a half of play in it. My eyes about popped out of my head when I discovered it. She must not of liked those few 4 wheel drive launches....

Ahh what fun!! I love front ends!!

Luckily its going much better then the normal 40 yr old stuff I’m used to.

Gotta love old dodge ball joints!! Believe we found the main problem lol

I believe everything is original from the factory on the truck. Pretty much everything is tired, and wore out. Surprising, as the truck drove half way decent.... other then the noise that started last week on the drivers side.

I had a couple quarts of good old rustoleum on the shelf. Its gloss black, but what the hell. After some cleaning, brushed some on. Not a job I’m real proud of, but does look better lol.

My 96 2500 4wd had 420,000 miles on it when I sold it.
In that time, I think the front end was redone 4 times.

Those Cummins are big chunks of iron.

Surprised you didn't have death wobble.

You push out more work than some repair shops, I wish I had half of your energy!

Hell The joints were even the weak link in the half tons back then. I’m amazed these ones lasted this long.

Carli suspensions makes an upgraded super heavy duty set, that is supposed to cure any, and all ball joint troubles on these trucks. I can’t swallow the $900 price tag that comes with em though!! Hopefully the new normal replacements last as long as these did lol

Im amazed at how well the truck was driving as well, after getting all of this apart!

My buddy must have been trying to kill me. I got the center caps off on the wheels. 2 lugs were just hanging out in the cap. Every lug nut of both wheels was only finger tight!! Amazing a wheel didnt come off. I was driving this thing daily for 2 weeks at least....

Thank you!!

I need to do that to my '98 2500 with the other 5.9l engine. And swap transmissions and might as well do the u joints and rear axle that need attention too.
