Another project

EGT’s?? You pay attention to that stuff?? LOL No gauges yet... they are on the list of future purchases.

No, had to be fuel related as to how it was running. Air intake seemed fine, and smoke clearing right up.

Day 2

We found it! So much fun dropping the tank! Yuck! May be the first time down since new?? Idk... what a clogged mess! Surprised it ran at all.

Emptied fuel, and cleaned out tank. Both fuel and tank were pretty clean. Seems like the pickup must have sucked up all the trash. Sucked saying goodbye to that fuel!! $93 to fill it back up again. No more surging, and power all the way through.

Also got the headlight switched replaced. Took 2 runs up to town, cause god forbid the first new switch you buy work outa the box! We are back in business though!

If I had an extra hand I would have locked the converter up for a little more fun!

Aaaarrrggghh!

Facebook marketplace does pay off once in a while. I’ve had an eye out for a new steering wheel for a while now. See em going for between $150-350 online. Seen an NOS one for $500. Was hoping to find one at Carlisle, but didn’t.

Found a guy parting out this truck today, on Facebook. She is toast!! The wheel was filthy! Was so bad, I thought the leather was actually peeling up in a few spots, but it was just caked on grime. It had a wheel cover on it for forever, and that smashed the grime right in.

Got the wheel, and column plastic for $40! A Mr. clean magic eraser worked amazing on the leather, followed by some leather conditioner. Not perfect, but it’s the little things in life that make you happy lol.

Good score... now help me find an uncracked black early 70's T&T wheel for similar $$:thumbsup:

Like any normal hurricane prep, gotta take care of your sagging *** headliner! LOL She started dropping on my head last Monday. Was driving me nuts!

Of coarse we took the high road. Joan fabric just happened to have this cowboy/Mexican blanket material juuussttt wide enough to barely fit. I dig it! In true 2nd gen Ram fashion, the plastic in the upper center console broke while coming out. Waiting on the super glue to dry, to try and re install.

Holy hell!! It’s back home! Trucks been gone since middle October or so. Tranny was giving me issues with 2nd gear, and then the converter went out. Wouldn’t go into lock up. After a bunch of drama with my local buddy to rebuild it the last few months, it’s just been sitting in his yard.

I went and grabbed it 2 weeks ago, and drug it up to Atlanta to a dodge tranny guru. Took him a week to get it out the door. Went and grabbed it last night.

She got a fully built stage 2 tranny. Billet flexplate, Billet triple disk converter, Billet input shaft, all Billet servos, custom valve body, upgraded internals, and new cooler lines to handle the higher psi. Jesus I spent more on the trans than I did buying the damn truck lol. Only thing I didn’t get that I wanted was a Billet output. That’ll have to wait a few months while recouping from this current bill lol.

She is quite a beastly tranny though! Will shake the fillings right out of your teeth shifting, if you let it lol.

Loaded up for Hotlanta the other week. Pay no mind to the ford truck from work towing it though! Ha!

Got back early this afternoon and had to give her a bath. She was nasty from sitting. My dodge decal on the tailgate hasn’t faired all that well. The GE and a D were letting go of the raptor liner. Need to order another one...

I do gotta give the old dually credit. She got me through the last few months with no big issues! Only small issue I had was a clamp on the lower rad hose worked itself loose, and caused a couple small puddles. As much as I like it though, I am ecstatic to have my truck back!

Sucks that it took so long, but it sounds like it was worth the wait. If your buddy would have done it was it going to be this beefy?

The guy who owns the shop up in Atlanta was real good friends for years with my local buddy. He was his mentor into the diesel world years ago, and they created a pretty good business relationship as well. I don’t know all the specifics, but seems they had a falling out earlier this year.

Local buddy kept promising the same build with billet output included for damn near half the cost of what was paid for this trans.. However he does not seem to have an actual parts place lined up, and/or a solid local builder he can depend on. After months of being patient, I was done waiting.....

When told where the truck was going, he was not a happy camper lol. Oh well, It sure would have been nice to save money, but going on 3 months with nothing happening, it was worth the $$ to get it done if you know what I mean... 3 months without your daily is no fun!!

Forgot to mention, if y’all ever find yourself at exit 22 off 75 in GA, make sure to stop at the Smoking Pig BBQ! Damn good food! 2 hour ride from our house. May be worth a trip just for it lol.

Have an awesome prime rib sandwich!

You know what they say, Can’t beat em join em lmao.

The dim old bulbs coupled with the tinted headlights made it bout impossible to see at night. Some cheap LED lights off amazon is quite a difference. Also picked up some led bulbs for the running lights/turn signals. Not bad!

pretty impressed with the beam pattern from them. Better than the old lights even. Thought they would be horrible..
