Dennis. That's his name.

Pretty convincing outfit. Did you get much candy?
LOL I got all the candy the kids didn't end up with, Magdalene asked me what we should get, I happened to give her some idea's that included my favorites, I now have snacks for my lunches for work for the next month or so.

Pretty good for a spray bomb job! I actually got pretty damn good doing the old rattle can jobs with the bluesmobile lol. Looks like the rear valence is back on? How did that turn out?

It is back on, It turned out pretty good, stayed straight, need to decide if I want to get it sandblasted to remove the old filler and paint, or work with it as is.

I was reminded today of this photo involving the left over candy........

I also Put dennis away for the winter. I have a line on a pair of 440's.....we'll see how this goes......

Truth be told I've debated finished him off including new paint and then putting him up for sale.....I could use the coin...IMG_20151122_170148.jpgIMG_20151122_170128.jpgIMG_20151122_170102.jpgIMG_20151122_170041.jpgIMG_20151122_170013.jpgIMG_20151122_165955.jpg

Looking really good! Hate it when they gotta go away for the winter.

Thanks Mike, yes it is, oh well, lets me have space for other stuff.

Tomorrow I'm off to Woodville to pickup a small hoard of big block dodge stuff, including two 440 short blocks......I made space....12336199_10156341465675650_1095813468_n.jpg

The excursion went well, and I bought the engines on the spot, one look and I knew...........

Got them home and found I had not one, but two 1973 440's! which go as follow;

3698830-440-8, RV stamped on pad, 4-12-73 production date, Forged Steel crank with 3641371 balancer, 3751213 motorhome heads, Standard bore.

3698830-440-8, a number letter sequence stamped, will need to clean up to ID, 3-6-73 production date, cast crank machined to match connecting rods, 30 over bore with new connecting rod's, pistons and rings, '68-70 906 heads with a port and polish, block has been line bored and decked.

I dug through the parts and there are two good cams, one from the motorhome 440, the other an aftermarket beefy cam from the orange engine, I have all kinds of parts. Including a 187 C body oil pan and pickup.

I would call this a success. I plan to use the RV 440 as it is still standard bore and has the steel crank.....

Today has been a good day of searching for missing parts of the puzzle, I found the 4 (5 if you want) last parts needed to build a complete '73 440.
sdfghjkdfgj.JPGsdfghjkl.JPGhjghjghjgghhg.JPGhhghgfhfhfhffh.JPGdfgdfgdgdfgdgffgdg.JPG

Air Cleaner from a '74 Plymouth 440 Cop car....

'73 440 waterpump housing, 3698468

'73 440 intake, 3698444

'73 440 exhaust manifolds, P/S 3751074, D/S 3698546

Good enough, I won't say the exact amount for everything listed I will just say less than $250CAD and the majority of that is the Air cleaner.

Less than $850 and I have two 440's, one which is ideal for my car and nearly perfect, the other will be for sale in a month or two.........I never lose money.......

Also forgot to mention that I attacked both engines and their components with a micrometer and telescoping bore set and found that indeed the '73 RV 440 is to the exact thousands of an inch standard bore, it mic'd out at exactly 4.320", the other 440 is 100% .030" bored, as it is now a 4.350" bore which inturn means that it is now 446 CI (well 445.87)

I'm eager to go through the parts tomorrow.

So in the process of cleaning things up for reassembly in the .030 orange block.....

And ended up cleaning the ID pad on my keeper, the Golden virgin......

2- second engine built that day.
The '73 Fury was built June 4th, this engine was built almost exactly a month before.......the gold on its block is even almost the same as the gold on its upper control arms and calipers when I bought it.
I would say it was meant to be

The 2 May denote 2nd shift. That's a good haul!

You've done a great job with that Fury. The stance is perfect. It looks just like the unmarked cruisers I remember from back in the day.

Thanks Matt, only one of the 4 manuals I have breaks that down and thats what it said, so I went with it.

Thank you, it's turning out well, it's the car that started my love for classic cars, that was 2002, Now the car is mine. It's a labor of true love. If it were not for me seeing this car as a child, I may never have bought my 69, which would have greatly changed my life forever.

Which engine are the rods in the picture from? Sorry I lost track.
Those internals are from my .030" 446, cleaned all of it up after sitting in boxes for 4 years.

Anywho......decided to dig into the gold 440 and see what I had to work with, besides I can't do anymore on the '69 till I get a few parts for it.12341214_10207998474217106_732633513420172312_n.jpg12342651_10207998474257107_4243292846117507123_n.jpg12360075_10207998448176455_7974165832528593059_n.jpg12373405_10207998446256407_3456543184510662951_n.jpg

De-greased it completely on the outside, found no more numbers on the side ID pad, not that I expected a serial number on an RV engine. I did however find when I popped the pistons out that this engine has been rebuilt and well maintained after the rebuild. So, new bearings, a hone, and she'll be good for lots of Smiles per Miles.

Tomorrow I'll pull the crank and inspect the main bearings and cam bearings.

I tell no lies, brought home the tools I needed and took what was left apart. Hot tanked the pistons and oil pump cover at work too.
