Does it appear that half the vinyl top is missing and something wrong with the windshield?

wouldnt have mattered, its a GT. A GT was special in 78, 88, 98, didnt matter. People that liked them then knew what they were , again, parts were cheap and plentiful

What do you think the chances are that it is still alive?

Here or overseas?

no, it is not a disaster.

It looks pretty much the same AFAIK.
No engine/trans, has a dent on the passenger side if I remember correctly. V-roof is partly torn. It needs a resto but isn't a rustbucket.

Has the engine/txsm been out of it for a long time?

Long gone I assume?

It amazes me why someone would take the drivetrain out of a car that is so rare.

It wasn't rare when it was a used car still depreciating.

My wife's 2004 Rx-8 with the rotary engine is starting to rack up repair bills now.
These Rotaries are in all honesty are pure crap.
Had we been keeping this car, I'd drop a modern Mazda V6 in it.
Other than the engine, I love the car.
And in 2060 somebody will curse me for it.

for a long time it was just a full size car with a 440 like many others.

I guess someone bought it for the engine (probably for its A-B-E-project).

Till the late 80s not man people could decode fender tags.
And for most folks it was just a Full size car anyway.

Honestly: How many of the FCBO-members can read fender tags out of there head to immidiatly identify a car with rare options/colours etc?
