Hi all from Ohio! Definitely new to working on cars but was always fascinated with "classic" cars when growing up. Last spring in my second-to-last semester of school, I stumbled upon a '72 Newport Royal for sale just a few miles down the road from me; long story short I ended up hobbling it home but it was so worth it!

The car's in pretty good shape for sitting in a barn for like 15 years after the original owner died. The vinyl top is in surprisingly good condition and the body is decent, up close you can make out a bunch of small rust spots but nothing too nasty. (The car was rust-proofed by Ziebart in '71 which probably helped.) It does have some damage to the driver's side fender (happened before it went into storage) but other than that it looks pretty good. The interior is really good as well, just a little aged. I wasn't really in the market for a land barge like this but I just couldn't pass up this 440-powered yacht with only 50k miles.

Already had a some work put into it but still have a ways to go. It's definitely not a collectible car but it's a pretty awesome time capsule!

I love it, nice score! Welcome to the site from the Motor City!

How Efin nice is that! Beautiful sedan...... welcome to the board

I agree. What a great color combo on this car which is rarely seen. Very nice score and a keeper for sure. Welcome to this great website-a lot of nice people with a wealth of information!

Normally i wouldn't give a sedan a second look, but this car stands out , definitely a nice color and in such sweet condition plus that interior is smart and crisp too, nice!

Welcome to the site !!!! :sFl_america2: NOW THAT COLOR HAS SOME "POP" TO IT !!!!!!!!!!!! :wtg:

Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome! Since my initial post I've had the damage to the front fender smoothed out (shop did a great job) and while in there had the whole car repainted, as close to the original color as possible of course. Apart from the chrome and a few odds and ends, it almost looks new! Now to get to work under the hood once winter starts... probably won't do much other than a nice cleaning out as I'd like to keep such a fairly low mileage 440 stock and the weathered look isn't too bad. Also in the last under-hood pic, yes that yellow sticker next to the radiator still says 19 Nov 71 after all these years.

Stunning . .wise choice

love that color

X2 One of my all time favorites

Now that is one pretty Fusie... I have a million questions but will (for the moment) limit it to just this one. Can I get a pic of the Fender tag? I'm one of those "Enthusiasts" (Nerds)...
