Hi all from Ohio! Definitely new to working on cars but was always fascinated with "classic" cars when growing up. Last spring in my second-to-last semester of school, I stumbled upon a '72 Newport Royal for sale just a few miles down the road from me; long story short I ended up hobbling it home but it was so worth it!
The car's in pretty good shape for sitting in a barn for like 15 years after the original owner died. The vinyl top is in surprisingly good condition and the body is decent, up close you can make out a bunch of small rust spots but nothing too nasty. (The car was rust-proofed by Ziebart in '71 which probably helped.) It does have some damage to the driver's side fender (happened before it went into storage) but other than that it looks pretty good. The interior is really good as well, just a little aged. I wasn't really in the market for a land barge like this but I just couldn't pass up this 440-powered yacht with only 50k miles.
Already had a some work put into it but still have a ways to go. It's definitely not a collectible car but it's a pretty awesome time capsule!
