Nose Art

I was looking some just the other night and found some pic's of B-52 nose art. 2 of them I was one of the Crew Chief's on the plane, others I worked on.

Worked on/crew chiefed this one during Desert Storm 57-6508

This pic looks like it's at Davis/Monthan AFB (the boneyard) before it's destruction

The first Bird I was a Crew Chief on. My then supervisor/crew chief Wendell Walker was a great guy to work for/with. We did a lot of night preflight inspections together.

Both 59-2590 and 58-0245, I sent to the Boneyard sometime after the Start treaty was signed in 91.
So many other Tail no's I worked on that I can't remember. I enjoyed my time in the Air Force and I learned a lot of things and worked with/for a lot of people. I have found that you can't stereotype people based on skin color, I have meet a lot of great people with great work ethics and some not so great, skin color doesn't matter.

Doc - the second airworthy B-29, based in Wichita, Kansas. Apparently, a squadron or group of B-29s donned the remaining 6 names as well as Snow White.

The only other flying B-29 is Fifi. Both were resurrected from the bombing range at NAS China Lake, California.

It's a real shame what happened to the Kee Bird when they tried to recover it from Greenland. All that effort up in smoke as they were getting ready to take off. :(

The bottom pic is the P-61 Black Widow (WWII night fighter).
The top pic looks more like a P-38.
I could be wrong.......
Top picture is of the last version of the P-61. They removed the top turret; it did resemble a P-38, but much heavier and much more powerful.

First pilot to fly it treated it like a P-38; once he achieved takeoff airspeed, he lifted the landing gear. Plane smacked right onto the runway!!! Luckily the pilot was able to walk away, but no one tried that again!
