I was always asked by a friend that comes back to Minnesota a couple/few times a year, "why don't you move?" Well, "who would pick you up at the airport?" I don't know why I never moved from this state, taxes are high, like 5th overall in the US. But I've moved away from larger populations over the years. First from the Twin Cities Western suburbs (old money) out west to farm country, and then 2 hours south near the border of Iowa, real farm country hardly any trees, they steal crop land! We have a town 10-15 minutes north or west, 35 miles east in and well, Iowa to the south. Like I've said before, rush hour is having to wait for 5-6 cars to go through the roundabout. People don't like big words, they live the simple life, work eat sleep, repeat.
I guess I like having 4 seasons, or I'm too dumb to realize I can leave, I think a little of both.
Yeah, anytime I had west to Montana or Oregon, I feel more relaxed minutes after I set out. It's almost a feeling of disappointment when I get back into Minnesota. I like having those states as a getaway destination, I know it will be all good, no matter how little I do when there.
