Saginaw non tilt column.
The switch is unique to that column (Reddish/pink)
The repop white switches are not the same.
The wire pins atthe end plug have to be pulled out and threaded through the column.
Make sure you mark where the wires go into the plug.

Nothing wrong using the harness with relays. I use them in every Mopar I handle.
It should not affect the operation of the brake lights at all.

There should be a snap ring that sits above the upper bearing, I can't see it in the pics. If that snap ring is missing the main shaft will slide down and can cause the steering wheel, horn ring and other parts to grind against each other.

When the the original 68 turn signal switch in wagon went south I had a good used switch from a 69 that I used, had to move a couple of the wires in the main connector but other then that it worked like a charm.

Yes, the headlights, were heating up the switch, i plugged in a aftermarket plug in harness that has relays in it because i was sure the new headlight's were causing the problem. Your going to ask me if i unplugged the harness and checked the brake light again. I am embarrassed to say no.
No, just trying to understand what you had done. I'm with cbarge in that the relay harnesses are fine.

On the contrary, when I turn the headlights on in my ‘67, if I don’t see my dash light up I also don’t have brake lights. A quick jiggle of the headlight switch to see my dash light up and I know I have brake lights too. Something I’ve needed to address for some time now so I’m going to send @Devinism one or 2 of my extra headlight switches this week.

You will have to take a look at which type of switch is currently installed in your panel. MOST 1967 Chryslers had wiring attached to the switch. The MoPar replacement was a switch with 5 terminals on the back(68 style) and included in the box was a short jumper harness. The harness plugged onto the back of the switch on one end, the other end plugged into your existing harness. I have also (rarely) seen the switch pictured above. Same as the 68 switch but probably supplied by a different vendor to Chrysler.

If yours is an Imperial then it has the wiring attached, no need to look.

here are some photos, thanks scott

This is also a 1968 switch. 2771175 (same as 2771176, different vendor to Chrysler). The 176 switch is prone to internal corrosion. Same switch as 1967 but without wiring attached. I have rebuilt plenty of them.
And...even though the brake light circuit does not go through the headlight switch / wiring I'm pretty sure their (wiring) paths cross. I've heard of the brake light malady before. Usually is the turn signal switch, but not always.

nothing should be rubbing on the top bearing like that. the post above may be correct about the snap ring being missing or the pieces are in the wrong order. it seems like i remember that pin having a roller on the end that went against the white plate when assembled.

i picked up a switch from a local yard from a 67 that looks like that one with the harness, did not know how to make it work for the 68 new yorker. I will send you a e-mail regarding switch rebuild.

Are you speaking of the brass horn pin?

unfortunately - my spare switch has the harness, not the blade connectors

headlight switch has nothing to do with the brake lights
In a 68 Chrysler it does!!

Pink wire at the fuse block for "stop/tail" go to headlamp switch.
Other side same fuse at fuse block; white wire to stop lamp switch.

Fuse is for brake and tail, pink wire feeds it for sure.

yes, but there is no guarantee yours is the same. there are several different columns ,switches and steering wheels. i couldn't tell from your picture what is on the other end of the pin.
closest i could find for a picture
