My 300 Hurst restoration begins

I have a 71 Demon I need to squeeze in before I do my final C body build. I am collecting parts for the S23 but she will have to wait for a while. I have the drive train etc so she has not been totally neglected lol.

my favorite car in my favorite color built on my birthday ... you should take your time so I can save some
money to sponsor that resto :D

please give us as many details as you can about the painting .

Working on fitting the hood and deck lid almost there!

Slightly. Not as bad as most I’ve seen. My hood was the worst. The hardest part was repairing cracks in the spoiler and front lip of hood.

ok thanks. I was asking because mine is badly bent and I want to know if there is any thechnique to " unbent " it.

Well it’s an exciting day for the Hurst restoration. Finishing final sanding tonight and will have it in white on Monday. I also received my new upholstery from legendary. Can’t wait to put it on my seats!

Were leather seats of this era from cow hide? I was a kid in the 70's and we only had vinyl seats but I remember being in a Cadillac and it had thick, almost stiff, leather seats. From what I understand most of the leather used today is from pigs.

Well the day has come! My Hurst is back in her white again. Now for the big process of reassembling her. The gold will be applied after she is assembled just as it was originally done. Thanks to Trev to allow me the opportunity to photograph two original unrestored Hursts. I am going to tape and spray them in the same manner as it was originally done. I used single stage paint to get the sheen as close to original as possible. I think clear adds too much depth.
