nice one. older conversion though.

mine again just be two big "rooms". upper level, and lower level. no overhead cabinets of any kind. all the windows intact, but one blocked for the head/shower. all appliances beneath window level, small built'in's etc.

anyway, engine is out of my bus being rebuilt. when ready, suped-up 8V71 .. traded the 8V92 i bought couple months ago for cash/and a 6 speed Allison auto. All goes back in in spring 2020 w

whisperer says rear end makes too much noise .. didnt expect that so a rebuild might be in order.

collecting interior fit out parts over fall winter .. very little actual fitment though till spring summer 2020 after fully mobile/100% roadworthy. i gotta drive it around for various fitment jobs.

I have documented everything so far in video/photo that will post soon.

We're waiting with bated breath. Well, at least I am.........
Agreed,... hurry up already :poke::lol::thumbsup:

:) hear ya guys. couple points in my defense.

first i am hundreds of miles from where my stuff gets worked on. second my best guys havent entered digital media age ..old school guys with flip phones and 386 chip 'puters with floppy discs.

i exaggerate but we see bad media work all the time here .. specially the cars for sale forum. stuff so bolluxed up it "dont tell the story right."

first engine start, for examble, they took vid in the dark. heard it run .. but didnt see it well. i am gonna clean it up and post it.

day we pulled it for rebuild, i missed a plane (weather delay) and they had to do it without me ... pics are ok but they are "verticals" when the should be "horizontals". gotta crop and straighten 'em.

LSS ..patience please. there will be lotsa "Scenicrusin-****" in here over next two years of this project before 2021 Carlisle debut.

:thankyou:

Naw not an update on my bus .. my due date is Carlisle 2021 so i'll be three years in by then too

just something my daughter sent me. she would like it .. its done by a woman.

so it has those touches that i aint gonna do ... but i was diggin' the cool use of space in the conversion and how well it turned out.

IIRC some of those fishbowls were 102" wide. If so she had a few more inches to work with. I do like the overall interior approach, but wouldn't want the girly feel either. One thing I can't get over is how many of these builds are great for stationary use, but appear to not have any provisions for travel... I'm picturing cabinet doors and drawers flying all over the place every time it moves.

you're right chief ... there were some "Fishbowl" models that were 102" wide. Sceincruisers were 96" wide.

Yeah, the young lady's bus photo shoot was staged for story theme .. 'looks like an apartment" .. and it was for sale at the time. Definitely a stationary look that would not survive any motion. all this stuff would be on the floor.

on the cabinets/drawers, i don't know what she did here. in the video they look to open very easily.

but I have seen in other conversions that they have a lotta detent force holding them shut .. and I plan liberal use of cabinets, particularly in on Tier 3 (master suite level, over engine compartment) in my build.

FYI the "Fishbowls" aka the GM "New Look" buses: GM New Look bus - Wikipedia

The GM New Look bus, also commonly known by the nickname "Fishbowl" (for its six-piece rounded windshield), is a transit bus introduced in 1959 by the Truck and Coach Division of General Motors and produced until 1986. More than 44,000 New Look buses were built. Its high production figures and long service career made it an iconic North American transit bus. The design is listed as U.S. Patent D182,998 by Roland E. Gegoux and William P. Strong.

44,484 New Look buses were built over the production lifespan, of which 33,413 were built in the U.S. and 11,071 were built in Canada (GM Diesel Division). Separated by general type, the production figures comprised 510 29-foot (8.8 m) city buses (all U.S.-built); 9,355 35-foot (10.7 m) city buses (7,804 U.S.-built, 1,551 Canadian); 31,348 40-foot (12.2 m) city buses (22,034 U.S., 9,314 Canadian) and 3,271 suburban coaches (of which only 206 were built in Canada). The total production of New Looks was 41,213 transit coaches and 3,271 suburban coaches.
We covered these babies a couple places in this thread.. as transit buses (low deck) they are a bit harder to trick-out as an RV as to amenities/storage underfloor. Plentiful and cheap though becuase so many were built -- until I stumbled across this one just today

When I first started at Phoenix Transit we still had a bunch of these. They were probably 25 years old when they were finally retired.
