I thought it might be of interest to post a picture of the very first type of car i owned. Maybe the rest of us can do the same, I am sure many of you could post something quite interesting.
When I bought my first car, I didn't even know it, I was at school and came home to my parents that wanted to "give me a talk" about something. You can imagine I figured damn, I'm in for it, what the heck have they found out? First thing they tell me is they took some of my money out of my savings, a whopping $15.00 and then tell me to go out the back door. Okay, so I go out there and in the back yard is sitting a MKIV Commer ute. MY brother had brought it home because it was going to be scrapped and he decided I would like it. Well I started to learn mechanics on that thing. I don't think I have ever seen another since.

first car

Mine was a 1948 Packard station sedan, (woodie station wagon), in 1964.

Dad worked on a road crew and sometimes stayed away for a week. He and some of the other workers rented a house near a job site and he discovered the Packard stored in the garage there. Original owner, (little old lady), had bought a new 1953 Cadillac and parked the Packard with 58K miles on it.
I gave him my life savings from a paper route, $85.00, and I owned the car. Dad kicked in a $5.00 used 6V battery and drove it about 80 miles home.
I wish I had a better picture, but so far this is the only pic I have of it...... Drove it for years.

Pretty cool cars! Now you see I'm a little younger ;)

The frst car I payed for, after 2 completely rusted out Golf mk2 I got for free, was a small Polo mk2 GT. Equipt with a G-Lader (G40) that made 112HP at only 750kg, this thing was like a gocart after I put in a sport suspension.

I had much fun driving it but it was totalled after I crashed into someone who turned into my lane illigally... after the crash, I had the engine laying on the passenger seat... pretty scary!

Ufortunately, I don't have pictures of my car, but it was similar to this one:

1956 Ford Fairlane
292 Y block
3 on the tree with overdrive
$75

Bought it non-running, repaired it and terrorized the alleys and vacant lots in my neighborhood. Parents confiscated and sold it.
I owned it for 6 weeks, I was 13.
Dad gave me the money and said I could buy something else that was not running but had to have his approval. Next stop was a 1955 ford pickup with no motor. Later to have a 406. And that is how I got here.
This one is not mine but very similar

in 2003 when I was 8 I paid 800 for a 71 Charger SE 383 I paid half for it and my dad paid the other half

I bought a slightly used 1969 Dodge Super Bee in 1971 for $1750. I was 16 years old when I bought that monster.

Bought it from my father's company, Westgate California, for $2000 as it was his company car. He bought it April 24, 1968 in Canoga Park, moved to San Diego in June for new job with Westgate California, they paid him for the car and then he bought it back so I could buy it from him on Dec. 18, 1969. Paid $100 a month for it. Photos 1969-1975-2014

My first car was a 1952 Plymouth Cranbrook four-door sedan. I was 12 years old. Drove it home with only five cylinders working (it dropped a piston and rod, yet it ran!). Paid a whopping ten dollars for the car.

The car that I had bought just prior to my 16th birthday was a pristine 1966 VW Type III fastback. White with red interior, dual carbs, AM/FM/SW radio, four-speed. In 40 days of ownership, I got my first traffic ticket and was also the first car I ever blew an engine in! It was a nice car.

Not my actual cars, but the same years, colors and models:

First was a 74 maverick but 3 of us went in on that one.
On my own 1963 Chevy Belair 6cyl 3 on the tree. Being 15 I drained the oil and went for a nice long drive, never did lock up on me. I slid a 327 in its place. I was pumping premium on the full serve island when the lead mechanic (who sold me the car for 75.00) noticed I rolled up in it and offered me a mechanic position.

I'm not a Chevy guy per se but I do appreciate a nice car no matter who built it.

This car has such beautiful clean lines and it does look great in white and not at all like a refrigerator.
