This is my 68 Fury III Formal Roof Hardtop. It has the G code 383, automatic, A/C & power bench seat. I have owned this car since 1982. The color is Yellow Gold (code HH1) and was repainted during the winter of 84-85. The carpet, vinyl top, & front seat were redone 12 years ago. The back seat is original & perfect. The engine has never been apart and the car has 124,000 miles on it. My dad bought a used 68 Fury in 1971 from the dealership my Fury is parked in front of. I was only 8 years old at the time but very impressionable. View attachment 72836 View attachment 72837
No Luke, my Fury has never seen a Pittsburgh winter. It came up from NC and the lady put it up for sale as she bought a brand new Mercury Lynx. My dad graciously let me park it in our 1 car garage the first winter and I either walked or drove his Volare wagon. I worked at the Exxon station in Carrick, less than a mile away so the walk wasn't bad. (I didn't move to Bethel Park until 2005) All of the winters thereafter I had a rented garage and drove a winter beater, usually another C-body. My first nice daily driver was a '77 Cordoba I bought in '86. I remember Elias rustproofing well, he really laid it on thick. You simply cannot keep a car nice and rust free driving though the salt and calcium chloride covered roads here in the winter.I didn't realize you've had your car since 82...that's awesome. Did you drive that around on those salty BP streets in the winter? You must have kept it tucked away...or was it rustproofed by someone like Elias in Bridgeville/Kirwin Heights...?
Nope not mine. I'm only into the 1968 year and have only owned 4 1968 Fury's through till about the mid 80's when I junked my last one survivor.
