Getting Ready for Carlisle

Ellie & I arrived at Carlisle around noon today. Great trip up. I was sweating it a little though. Friday, the day before we planned to leave and with the Admiral and Connie loaded, I lost high gear...!
Seeing as the car was likely to be in 2nd gear pulling the load most of the trip, we left anyways and drove here in 2nd gear. No real issues and we got to enjoy the scenery running all back roads.
The A/C worked great.
Were set up on row P #135/136/137 and the Admiral will be with the C body group.
Bring a chair over Friday after 5 pm for free beer.......!

I should get to meet you Thursday... hey that's tomorrow already...yea!!

2nd only... I guess the rest of use should feel good about our fuel economy, I'm glad you had no other issues... but I'm confident you could handle them if they came.

We are on our way too.
Yesterday was a mile stone. My car hit 50,000 miles. And proceeded to break down twice 20 miles after that. It must suck getting old. :icon_fU:

This was taken after I could get close to the thing. It blew up as soon as I opened the hood.

The problem was that RTV made its way into the thermostat and radiator cap. This caused the thermostat to not function properly, and my temp suddenly pegged.

After an hour at Oriely's we replaced the water pump belt, thermostat, and radiator cap. We hand crafted a gasket and it worked perfectly.
After that I drove on in A/C comfort with incredible style (thanks to my new florescent green overtones).
Now we're in Blytheville, Arkansas. It's sleepy time. See y'all tomorrow.

I switched to the billet aluminum thermostat housing and 12 point stainless bolts from 440 Source. No more leaks!

Got out of the shower tonight and went to toss on a tee shirt.... Pulled one out of the drawer without looking... Look what it was!

Very excited about the up-and-coming trip.. I work the graveyard shift so I won't get off until 08 tomorrow morning.. Which sucks seeing how I have about a 3 1/2 - 4 Hour drive ahead of me tomorrow morning.. But after reading some of the posts of you guys driving cross country, i'm certainly not bitching about my drive. Momma D! (The car) As she has been affectionately named, is all packed and ready to go, I should be hitting the bricks around 10 AM. Can't wait to meet you guys and see all these beautiful pieces of American history.

Way to persevere Will !

Oh P.S. I'll be in Montgomery next week. Will you be back / anywhere near you?

We will be leaving Carlisle Monday morning. If all goes well we should be back home in Bama Thur or Fri. ( Stopping to visit friends in NC).
It would be great to meet up if possible.
Perhaps we can touch base later next week.

I'm planning on getting there Friday also. Old Blue will be getting its final wash and wax tomorrow night, then of to Carlisle Friday morning! See ya there!

Just the RTV that is left on the water pump housing is about 5 times more than you needed to use for the whole job.

Well I'm pissed.

Was installing a Vintage Air Mark IV system in the wagon for the trip and of course it takes longer than expected.

Vac it down and it won't hold. Pressure it up and one of the Beadlock crimps is spewing. So I recrimp it and it holds vacuum.

Start charging it up and the next fitting in line starts the same crap.

Run that thru the crimper again and start again. Now the one at the evaporator starts.

Should have just ponied up the extra $$$ for Aeroquip EZ Click.

Sooo Plan B. The only thing in the yard up for a road trip is the Diesel Dodge so that's what will be headed south in the AM.

Not sure if I'll put it on the field or not.

See you all there.

Kevin
